SECTION 4
Good morning. Approximately one third of all food produced globally — 1.3 billion tonnes — is wasted. In developed nations, waste occurs primarily at the consumer and retail level. In developing countries, losses happen during harvesting, transport and storage. Landfilled food releases methane, a greenhouse gas twenty-five times more potent than carbon dioxide. The UN target is to halve per capita food waste by 2030.
