Discuss Both Views:旅游对当地社区的影响。

题目 Task

Tourism is one of the fastest-growing industries in the world. Some people believe it benefits local communities, while others argue it causes more harm than good.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Write at least 250 words.

范文(约 310 词)

International tourism has grown dramatically, bringing visitors to every corner of the globe. While it creates jobs and income, it also carries social and environmental risks. In my view, tourism can be beneficial when managed sustainably, but unregulated mass tourism often harms the communities it touches.

Those who celebrate tourism point to its economic benefits. It creates employment in hotels, restaurants, transport and guiding — jobs that often support marginalised groups such as women and young people. In developing countries, tourism can be a major source of foreign exchange. It also encourages preservation of cultural heritage: when traditional music, crafts and festivals become tourist attractions, local pride in them often grows. Cities like Barcelona and Kyoto have shown how heritage tourism can revitalise historic districts.

However, the downsides are serious. Mass tourism drives up housing prices and living costs, displacing local residents. In cities like Venice and Bali, over-tourism has strained water supplies, waste management and public services. Local culture can become commodified — reduced to stereotyped performances for camera-wielding visitors. The environmental footprint, from aviation emissions to beach degradation, is substantial.

In my view, the solution is regulated, low-volume tourism rather than unrestricted growth. Governments should impose visitor limits, charge entry fees at sensitive sites, and require tourism revenue to be reinvested in local communities. When tourism respects carrying capacity, it enriches both visitors and residents.
