📝 高分范文(约 200-250 词,1-2 分钟)

A goal I've been working towards is to run a half-marathon — 21.1 kilometres — within the next year. It sounds crazy to me, because five years ago I couldn't even run around the block without stopping.

I first set the goal after watching my friend Leo finish a half-marathon last spring. He crossed the line looking exhausted but absolutely elated, and something clicked. I figured if a regular guy like him could do it, so could I. I started by jogging five minutes at a time, walking when I needed to, and slowly building up over months.

To hit the goal, I need to train consistently — about four runs a week, gradually increasing the distance. I've also started paying more attention to my diet and sleep, because recovery matters as much as the running itself. I've even signed up for a half-marathon in my city this October, which gives me a concrete deadline.

What drives me is proving to myself that I'm not too old or too out of shape to start something new. I'm thirty-eight now, and I want to show my son that adults keep setting goals, too. Crossing that finish line would be a personal milestone, not a race against anyone else. Honestly, even finishing without stopping would feel like winning.

💬 Part 3 延伸讨论

Q1: Why do people set goals?

Goals give direction, honestly. Without them, time just slips by. A goal turns a vague wish — get fit, read more — into something measurable. It's also a way to prove to yourself that you can change.

Q2: Do young people set too many unrealistic goals?

A bit, yes. New Year's resolutions are the classic example — gym memberships in January, abandoned by February. The problem isn't having big dreams; it's not breaking them down into small daily steps. Goals only work when they're specific and realistic.
