雅思搞笑故事 01：做阅读做到TFNG，我把老板当成了考官
连续做了二十篇雅思阅读，我的大脑出了点问题。
老板走进办公室，说："这个项目下周能交付吗？"
我没有回答。我在脑子里飞速定位——题干关键词："项目""下周""交付"。回原文（也就是上周开会的记忆）找定位句。
原文说的是"我们争取下周完成初版"。
"争取"不等于"能"。"初版"不等于"交付"。
我抬起头，平静地说："NOT GIVEN。"
老板愣住了。"什么？"
"原文没有明确说明能否交付，"我解释道，"只说了'争取'，这是主观意愿，不是客观承诺。所以是NOT GIVEN，不是FALSE。"
老板的脸色开始变。但我停不下来。
他说："你最近状态不太对。"
我立刻判断：TRUE。原文（我照镜子的记忆）明确支持。
他说："你是不是该休息一下？"
我犹豫了。原文没有提到"休息"这个词。但"状态不对"可以推断出需要休息？不，不行，雅思阅读不能推断，只能用原文信息。
"NOT GIVEN，"我说。
老板深吸一口气，说："你被解雇了。"
这句话我判断得很快。FALSE。因为上个月合同续签了三年，原文明确矛盾。
老板摔门而去。我坐在工位上，打开aipost.email/focus/ielts，继续做第二十一篇阅读。
手机响了，是我妈。"儿子，吃饭了吗？"
我想了想。"NOT GIVEN。原文没有提到。"
挂了电话，我突然意识到一个问题：我好像把生活过成了一道判断题。
但转念一想，这也没什么不好。至少在雅思阅读里，每个问题都有标准答案。而真实生活里，老板说的"下周交付"，从来都不是TRUE。
——雅思阅读教我最重要的一件事：当你不确定的时候，选NOT GIVEN，至少不会错得太离谱。

After blasting through twenty IELTS reading passages, something snapped in my brain.
My boss walked in and asked, "Can this project be delivered next week?"
I didn't answer. I was scanning — keywords: "project," "next week," "deliver." Locating the source sentence in my memory of last week's meeting.
The original text said: "We'll aim to finish the initial version next week."
"Aim" ≠ "can." "Initial version" ≠ "deliver."
I looked up and said calmly, "NOT GIVEN."
My boss froze. "What?"
"The text doesn't explicitly state whether it can be delivered," I explained. "It only says 'aim' — that's subjective intent, not an objective commitment. So it's NOT GIVEN, not FALSE."
My boss's face changed. But I couldn't stop.
He said, "You're not yourself lately."
I judged instantly: TRUE. The original text (my mirror memory) clearly supports it.
He said, "Maybe you should take a break."
I hesitated. The text didn't mention "break." But "not yourself" could imply needing one? No — IELTS reading doesn't allow inference. Only explicit information.
"NOT GIVEN," I said.
My boss took a deep breath and said, "You're fired."
This one was fast. FALSE. My contract was renewed for three years last month — direct contradiction.
He stormed out. I sat at my desk, opened aipost.email/focus/ielts, and started passage twenty-one.
My phone rang. It was my mom. "Son, have you eaten?"
I thought about it. "NOT GIVEN. The text doesn't mention it."
After hanging up, I realised: I'd turned my entire life into a reading comprehension question.
But then again, maybe that's fine. In IELTS reading, every question has a definitive answer. In real life, when my boss says "we'll deliver next week," it's never TRUE.
— The most important thing IELTS reading taught me: when you're not sure, choose NOT GIVEN. At least you won't be spectacularly wrong.
