The IPO numbers
Suiyuan Tech, a Chinese AI-chip maker, completed its STAR Market (Sci-Tech Innovation Board) IPO subscription:
- 7.03 million subscribers participated
- Initial subscription exceeded 100x, triggering the claw-back mechanism
- Post-claw-back online lottery rate: only 0.02455%
Context
With overseas high-end compute supply constrained, Suiyuan's listing is seen as a milestone for the domestic compute ecosystem:
- Primary market: cloud providers and AI computing centers are ramping procurement of domestic chips
- Secondary market: the subscription frenzy reflects strong money flows into the "domestic compute substitution" theme
A reality check
- High subscription heat ≠ guaranteed fundamentals; watch customer concentration, yield, and ecosystem fit
- Domestic chips are a long runway, but valuation-vs-earnings alignment still needs time to prove out
