The two maps illustrate how the town of Riverford changed between 2000 and 2020.
Overall, Riverford transformed from a largely rural settlement into a developed suburban town. Most of the green spaces were replaced by housing, commercial and transport infrastructure.
In 2000, the northern part of the town consisted entirely of farmland, while a large woodland covered the eastern area. A railway station stood on the western side, and a small river ran through the town centre, which at that time was a modest village.
By 2020, the farmland in the north had been cleared and replaced with a housing estate. The eastern forest was also removed to make way for a business park. The railway station remained, but a new car park was built next to it. A bridge was constructed across the river, and the village centre expanded to include a new school and a supermarket. Most notably, an airport was built in the south-eastern part of the town.
In conclusion, the period saw substantial development and urbanisation of Riverford.
