Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The table compares the number of international students from six countries studying at a UK university in 2010 and 2020.

Overall, the total number of international students rose substantially over the decade, driven almost entirely by dramatic growth from China, India and Nigeria. By contrast, student numbers from Germany and the USA declined slightly.

In 2010, China was already the largest source country with 420 students, followed by India at 280 and the USA at 250. Germany contributed 200 students, while Malaysia and Nigeria had 180 and 150 respectively.

By 2020, Chinese students had nearly tripled to 1,250, making China by far the biggest source. Indian students grew more than threefold to 980, and the number from Nigeria quadrupled from 150 to 620. Malaysia also doubled its intake to 340. Meanwhile, the USA and Germany saw modest falls, to 210 and 180 respectively.

In conclusion, the university became far more dependent on Asian and African students, while its traditional Western European and North American sources shrank.
